I’m Don Campbell, a photographer. I’ve had the privilege to be part of the evolution of image capturing, starting in 1956 with a medium format twin lens 6X6 Ricoflex; in 1967 I added a 35mm Pentax Spotmatic. When they came of age to produce professional quality images, I switched to digital and shoot with Nikon systems.

As a teen I learned to develop and print film, which lead directly to my first job as a photographer and lab operator and then cinematographer/photographer for a new television station. I shot 35mm slides of products for local merchants, film commercials, news film and weekly documentaries.

In 1968 a partner and I formed Citation Productions in Vancouver, producing documentaries and TV commercials. A few years later I moved to Calgary to design and run a film program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, I used still photography to teach composition to television and film students.

I was a founding member of the Alberta Television and News Photographers' Association. We organized and hosted international conferences and workshops, and produced an award-winning monthly newsletter.

Along the way I earned a pair of Broadcast Diplomas (BCIT and SAIT) and a Master's Degree in Fine Arts at York University in Toronto. My life has been filled with my love for the arts.

My wife and I travel extensively. Val makes outstanding coffee table books and videos of our trips, and I focus more on collections by subject and theme, primarily for large prints. The outcome of my photography is this website.
